Spring Cleaning Your Bedroom: 7 Easy Steps
Spring Cleaning Your Bedroom: 7 Easy StepsIt does not need to be spring to do a spring clean. Giving your bedroom a thorough spring clean is not only visually pleasing, but it is good for you too! All that bending down to pick things up, stretching to high places, sweeping and cleaning gives your whole body a full workout. If that is not convincing enough, then your room will be a cleaner and fresher environment that will have positive effects on your physical and mental health. By removing the dust from your room, you clean the air that you breathe which is more pleasant for your lungs. Also, a de-cluttered space keeps things organised and neat which can help you become more productive and positive. Here are seven simple steps to spring clean your bedroom without the need for professional cleaners or cleaning agencies.1. Get cleaning suppliesArm yourself with all the necessary cleaning supplies. By having everything to hand it minimises excuses of putting the task off. Good cleaning supplies include cloths, surface spray, sweeping brush and mop for wooden or tiled floors, carpet shampoo and hoover for carpets, air freshener and fabric cleaning powders and liquids.2. Work one area at a timeBy doing one bit at a time makes the cleaning task more manageable. Start doing the chores you dislike the most and get them over and done with. One idea would be to start by desk cleaning, clean inside the drawers then move onto to the shelves before tackling the wardrobe, bed sheets and lastly the floor. Don’t forget under the bed too! 3. Clean the windowsIf you have a beautifully tidy and clean room, you will never see it if the windows are dirty. To get them sparkling, a tip is to use vinegar and old newspaper that leaves a flawless finish on glass. This will make a big impact on your room. The view will be become clearer and more sunlight will be able to enter, making your room look even more light, airy and fresh.4. Clean the floorHow you approach the floor depends on what type of floor you need to clean. If you have a carpet, the best way to tackle carpet cleaning is to shake carpet shampoo onto the floor, ideally scented to a smell that you love. Then hoover all of the carpet, spreading the shampoo as you go and picking up all the bits. The carpet should look lighter, smoother and free from bits, as well as smelling fabulous. If you have a wooden or tiled floor, sweep up all the bits from the floor the mop using warm water and a pleasant smelling floor cleaning liquid that will give your room a wonderful scent. Popular smells are pine, lemon and other citrus notes, whilst more recently more exotic combinations are increasing in popularity such as lemongrass and green tea. 5. The wardrobeThis is your time to be ruthless. Empty the shelves, drawers and whatever is hanging up, then clean inside. Then put your clothes back in after you have ironed each item that needs it, throwing out any clothes that you have not worn in a while. De-clutter as much as you can, you will feel great!6. The bedRemove bed sheets, duvets and pillow cases before washing them with a nice fabric softener. If it is a good day, let them air dry - the smell and feeling after will be wonderful.7. Make your room smell wonderfulNow your room is clean and fresh, finish it off with a few squeezes of your favourite air freshener.
